The Roots holiday party~Mint Condition~Jimmy Fallon~Ray Angry,Craig Haynes etc.

Hey Happy New Year of 2012~~!!!
It has been so long for me not to write the blog somehow... I had so many events before Xmas and did not have any time to write...

First of all, Dec 15th @BK Bowl...The Roots Holiday Party! What a fantastic night! THE ROOTS KILLED IT!!! Yameen put me on the list and I had a very special night! Thank you Yameen Allworld!!!
The Roots crew, Rahzel,Robert Glasper, Shaggy, Big Daddy Kane, Ray Angry,
and more performances...!
Of course ran into Ariel from Sutra with Moses, Jeffrey Boyd(Big Jeff), Shino Yanagawa and Dashaun Simmons, Blitz Bazawule, Sharief Hobley,Ryan Leslie,Meghan Stabile,Igmar Thomas,Yaseen Isa(Supreme),Keri, Naf Aroug,Shaka Zulu, Jarobi and Ali from ATCQ, Jill Newman,  and more...So many interesting people were there on the stage and in the audience. It was only for VIP people and  some performers got special dancers, bootsy shakers and flying girls...it was fun and great show.
The beautiful thing about this show was after the show, DJ QUESTLOVE spinned with MC YAMEEN. People stayed and enjoy playing the bowling!!! I was busy running around with Shino to introduce my friends for networking but all and all I had a great time!!!
Then Dec 20th @NBC Rock Center. We had a TV shooting for Xmas and new year with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. Me and Big Jeff were invited by Naoto. We needed to wait outside to get in...so long time! And finally after a few hours of waiting hours, we got our Happy New Year hats and some accessories! We did not have Xmas yet by then!!! The Roots and Jimmy Fallon, some other artists were keep practicing the song for shooting. Somehow we were very in the middle of the audience, obviously I was with Big Jeff... The Roots members noticed us in the audience...I pork to some of the members a few days later, they were laughing at me to see me in the audience in that cold weather. It was really cold and could not believe that we actually kept standing in rain and wind in front of Rock Xmas Tree!!! The Roots played only 2 songs but over and over played them till they get OK. This was for Times Square count down show... We were screaming HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Before having Xmas of 2011...!
On Dec 21st me and Mariko had MINT CONDITION at BB KING NY!http://www.mintconditionmusic.com/splash
Mint Condition is an R&B band from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Formed in the late 1980s, its original members were Stokley Williams (lead vocals, drums, percussion), Ricky Kinchen (bass guitar), Homer O'Dell (guitar), Larry Waddell (keyboards, piano), Keri Lewis (keyboards, synthseizer), and Jeffrey Allen (saxophone, keyboards). Currently, this line-up remains intact, with the exception of Lewis, who left the group to produce for other artists. The group is well known for its highly diverse musical style (able to play anything from traditional jazz stylings to mainstream R&B and rock-based music to funk grooves and even Latin and Jamaican-based rhythms) and also its captivating live performances. The band is also well known for their well written and produced R&B ballads, mainly in the 1990s. They mostly known for their hits "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" (1991) and "What Kind of Man Would I Be" (1996)

It was so goooooood to be there after many hiphop shows. Actually so many mature audiences and they played from their old school R&B to new school. They also played my favorite P-FUNK song and James Brown song! AWWW!again my YES moment! They played, Atomic Dog from P-Funk!!! I was screaming and dancing harder lol
We had no chance to meet the members as we were tired but afterwards we went to have Korean food and got together with Keiko Tsukada who was just visiting NY only one week and DJ June chan!

On My Xmas Eve, I was with my co-worker Kaori and went to see Willie Jones Ⅲ at Village Vanguard. I really wanted to have my quality Jazzy Xmas.It was packed show and so many Japanese tourists were there but we enjoyed it, met singer Tony and a few more musicians.
After Vanguard, we peeped Smalls but I did not know any musicians so we were walking to Blue Note.
In front of Blue Note we met the producer and keyboard for The Roots and more,  Ray Angry!!! and his girl. He was busy talking to some other girls but once he noticed with me and my girl, asked us to go into BlueNote together. Actually the singer at that night for BlueNote was the waitress of BlueNote. We sat and Ray bought Champaign for us (but I dont drink alcohol at all as you know) then who came next??? yeah Craig Haynes who is a son of legendary Drummer ROY HAYNES!http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=14282
Craig was riding a bike in that cooooold weather!!! All leathered out and in black!!!
I ran into him quite a lot everywhere but I really did not expect seeing him on this Christmas eve!!!lol
We actually ended up having great time with drunk people on Christmas. It was very much like a NY and special Christmas day...in 2011...!!!
