and more performances...!
On Dec 21st me and Mariko had MINT CONDITION at BB KING NY!http://www.mintconditionmusic.com/splash
Mint Condition is an R&B band from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Formed in the late 1980s, its original members were Stokley Williams (lead vocals, drums, percussion), Ricky Kinchen (bass guitar), Homer O'Dell (guitar), Larry Waddell (keyboards, piano), Keri Lewis (keyboards, synthseizer), and Jeffrey Allen (saxophone, keyboards). Currently, this line-up remains intact, with the exception of Lewis, who left the group to produce for other artists. The group is well known for its highly diverse musical style (able to play anything from traditional jazz stylings to mainstream R&B and rock-based music to funk grooves and even Latin and Jamaican-based rhythms) and also its captivating live performances. The band is also well known for their well written and produced R&B ballads, mainly in the 1990s. They mostly known for their hits "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" (1991) and "What Kind of Man Would I Be" (1996)
It was so goooooood to be there after many hiphop shows. Actually so many mature audiences and they played from their old school R&B to new school. They also played my favorite P-FUNK song and James Brown song! AWWW!again my YES moment! They played, Atomic Dog from P-Funk!!! I was screaming and dancing harder lol
We had no chance to meet the members as we were tired but afterwards we went to have Korean food and got together with Keiko Tsukada who was just visiting NY only one week and DJ June chan!
On My Xmas Eve, I was with my co-worker Kaori and went to see Willie Jones Ⅲ at Village Vanguard. I really wanted to have my quality Jazzy Xmas.It was packed show and so many Japanese tourists were there but we enjoyed it, met singer Tony and a few more musicians.
In front of Blue Note we met the producer and keyboard for The Roots and more, Ray Angry!!! and his girl. He was busy talking to some other girls but once he noticed with me and my girl, asked us to go into BlueNote together. Actually the singer at that night for BlueNote was the waitress of BlueNote. We sat and Ray bought Champaign for us (but I dont drink alcohol at all as you know) then who came next??? yeah Craig Haynes who is a son of legendary Drummer ROY HAYNES!http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=14282
Craig was riding a bike in that cooooold weather!!! All leathered out and in black!!!
I ran into him quite a lot everywhere but I really did not expect seeing him on this Christmas eve!!!lol
We actually ended up having great time with drunk people on Christmas. It was very much like a NY and special Christmas day...in 2011...!!!
